Heaney analysis of Buffalo Billion probe

Jim Heaney of Investigative Post, whose reporting foreshadowed the ongoing federal probe of developer contracts awarded under the Buffalo Billion program, took to the airwaves over the weekend of offer his take on U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara’s investigation. Heaney joins Capitol Pressroom lineup

Investigative Post Editor Jim Heaney has joined the list of regular contributors to The Capitol Pressroom, heard daily on 20 public radio stations across Upstate New York. Heaney will field questions every other Thursday from Capitol Pressroom host Susan Arbetter. iPost adds “revenue doctor” to its board

Investigative Post has added Kevin Davis, an internationally recognized authority on non-profit newsrooms, to its board of directors. The Investigative Post board also re-elected David Cay Johnston as president at its annual meeting July 14. Johnston is a Pulitzer Prize winner and the past president of Investigative Reporters & Editors. Robert Skerker was re-elected vice president and treasurer. Catharine Miles-Kania was elected secretary. Davis is the former executive director and CEO of the Investigative News Network, a consortium of more than 100 nonprofit newsrooms across the United States, including Investigative Post. Heaney discusses transparency with WGRZ

Investigative Post Editor Jim Heaney talks about transparency, and the lack thereof in the Cuomo administration, in an interview last Friday with WGRZ’s Michael Wooten. The interview was precipitated by a “transparency summit” sponsored by the governor and the announcement that his administration was revising a policy that had lead to many state emails being deleted after 90 days. Heaney also discusses the events that prompted Investigative Post to file a lawsuit last week seeking the release of Buffalo Billion documents that program managers have refused to disclose.

Investigative Reporters & Editors has cited Investigative Post and WGRZ for their coverage of the sorry state of Scajaquada Creek. IRE, the world’s leading professional organization of investigative journalists, recognized the Scajaquada Creek coverage in announcing the winners of its annual reporting awards.  The Scajaquada Creek coverage was listed as one of three finalists for multi-platform reporting in the small market category.
