Gambini joins Investigative Post staff

Phil Gambini is off to a running start with Investigative Post. Gambini joined the Investigative Post reporting staff last week after five years with the Niagara Gazette. He broke his first story Friday and has another teed up for this coming week. iPost annual fundraising drive underway

Investigative Post has launched its annual fundraising drive, which is critical to underwriting our reporting efforts in the coming year. Once again, donations of up to $1,000 made by Dec. 31 will be matched by NewsMatch, funded by seven national foundations and media organizations. Multi-skilled journalist joins iPost staff

Ali Ingersoll, known to many local television viewers for her work at Channel 4, has joined the reporting team of Investigative Post. Ingersoll, 29, spent the past year in the United Kingdom, earning a Masters of Science degree in Computational and Data Journalism from Cardiff University in Wales and working at Bloomberg News in London. iPost announces fall events

Investigative Post has scheduled the first two events of its 2019-20 event series. The season kicks off Thursday, Oct. 10, with a 5:30 p.m. social at Community Beer Works introducing Investigative Post’s new reporting team. Geoff Kelly, Kate Kaye and Ali Ingersoll will be on hand to meet with attendees and answer questions. Kelly, former editor of The Public and Artvoice, joined the iPost staff in April; Kay started in August. Ingersoll starts Sept. 23. Editor Jim Heaney will also be on hand. Newman is executive vice president of NOCO Energy Corp., where he is responsible for business development. iPost coverage of police drowning wins award

Reporting that showed how the Buffalo Police Department put Officer Craig Lehner in harm’s way before his drowning in 2017 has won a statewide reporting award. The New York State Associated Press selected the story by Daniela Porat as the top investigative  story broadcast in 2018 on radio stations in mid-sized markets. The story aired on WBFO. Porat reported that the current in the Niagara River was too swift for an inexperienced diver like Lehner and that he was not properly trained and equipped.   The Lehner family subsequently filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the city and police department.[...]
